Di Anna Borders pulls design inspiration from the seemingly disparate worlds of classic mid-century modern design and Asian influences. Commonality is found in the purpose of line, and in rich, organic color. Pattern and texture emerge naturally, coaxed into a fusion of simplicity and elegance.

Di Anna delved into the visual world by studying the art of photography at Columbia College in Chicago. This foundation introduces the intersection of contrast with geometric repetition – a feature that forms a constant, at times subtle, thread through her design expression.

Work experience began with a stint in the detail-oriented field of cartography for such high-profile clients as Rand McNally and National Geographic. Producing maps, charts and graphs for Mapping Specialists, Ltd., enforced a level of technical skill that propelled her ahead of most newly graduated designers.

As she moved into design and pre-press, the marriage of form and function took shape within her projects. Client consultations were the backbone of her developing skills within the merger of two more factions: business and creativity. Her ability to fuse the two worlds led to Omnova Solutions, Inc., where her technical knowledge, business skills and creativity brought her to the forefront of client presentations, systems calibration and innovative short-run print models.

Now, as Principal Designer at Armstrong World Industries, world travel facilitates her extensive client and trend research, marketplace competition, and the refinement of her increasingly sophisticated fusion of designs.
